Gain valuable, real-world experience at Precinct as a Summer Intern. Our internship programme is designed to give university students hands-on exposure to New Zealand’s leading city-centre real estate business, working alongside industry experts while contributing to projects that enrich everyday lives.

Whether your interests are in development, property management, leasing, sustainability, investment, marketing or corporate functions, you'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, build valuable industry connections, and gain insight into how a leading property company operates.

About the Programme

Our Summer Internship Programme runs during the university summer break, typically from late November through to mid-February.

As a Summer Intern, you'll become part of the team from day one, working on real projects and contributing to meaningful outcomes across the business.

What you can expect:

Approximately 11 weeks of paid work experience.
Exposure to a range of teams and disciplines across the business.
A dedicated manager, mentor and buddy to support your development.
Site visits to some of New Zealand's most significant commercial, residential and mixed-use developments.
Opportunities to attend team meetings, industry events and project discussions.
A collaborative and supportive environment where your ideas and contributions are valued.

What kind of work will I be involved in?

Every internship experience is different, but previous interns have contributed to projects and activities including:

Development and investment research.
Leasing and tenant proposal preparation.
Property and asset management projects.
Sustainability and ESG initiatives.
Market and vacancy research.
Project site visits and development tours.
Event planning and stakeholder engagement.
Marketing and communication projects.
Client and tenant engagement activities.
Cross-functional projects that provide insight into multiple areas of the business.

Our goal is to provide genuine industry experience that helps bridge the gap between study and full-time employment.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from university students who are passionate about property, cities, development and creating great places.

Ideally, applicants will be entering the final year of their property degree and demonstrate:

Curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills.
Initiative and problem-solving ability.
A collaborative mindset.
Genuine interest in the property industry.

Applications for our 2026/27 Summer Internship Programme will open on 1 August 2026.

Roles will be advertised on Seek and through the Careers section of the Precinct website.

The Recruitment Process: Our recruitment process is designed to help us get to know you beyond your CV.

Stage 1 – Application via Seek

Submit your CV and cover letter.

Stage 2 – Video Submission

Record a short video answering a small number of questions about yourself and what you can bring to Precinct.

Stage 3 – First Interview

Meet with two members of the Precinct team.

Stage 4 – Second Interview

A final interview with a different group of team members.

Offers are typically made in September.

Hugo Hay

My internship at Precinct was an incredibly valuable experience. I was part of the Development team, where I had the opportunity to visit a range of project sites and see first-hand how developments progress from planning through to construction. Being able to get out on site gave me a much better understanding of the development process and how projects come together.

I also had the opportunity to gain exposure to other areas of the business, which gave me a broader understanding of the commercial property industry. Everyone was welcoming, supportive and always willing to share their knowledge, making it a great environment to learn.

The experience strengthened both my practical understanding of the industry and my confidence and reinforced my interest in pursuing a career in property.
